American Samoa, a collection of seven islands, is located in the South Pacific Ocean. It comprises five rugged volcanic islands and two coral atolls.
Traditionally the culture of Samoa is a communal way of life. There traditional houses, fales, contain no walls. The extended family, aiga, lives and works together. They respect their Elders too much. Most people speak Samoan.

Rainfalls are heavy between December to April. Climate offers its best in winter season, which is between May and September. These are the days when we feel southeast trade winds blowing. Exactly this is the season to visit here.There are direct flights to Pago Pago from Hawaii with connections to Los Angeles. You can go there from Tonga, Australia or New Zealand too. If you have more time, then you can go there from Australia’s northeast or from US west coast on Yacht.
If you are a lover of landscapes then Tutuila Island is a must see place for you. Its coast is rugged but there are beaches too to enjoy. Its mountains are steep and covered with forest. The main feature of Tutuila is its tropical scenery and coastal views. Alega Beach is perhaps the most pictorial beach on Tutuila. Matafao Peak is the highest point in American Samoa. Its height is 653 metres. If you like falls, it is a better place for you. It is having a very beautiful waterfall Nuuili at its base.
The Manu'a Islands is 100 km to the east of Tutuila. It is a spectacular collection of three islands. It is a must see place for anthropology interested people because it is the traditional birth place of Samoa, therefore it has a number of interesting archaeological sites to see. National Park of Samoa is in the main island Ta'u. The Park shows excellent bird life.
You can see unbelievable sea cliffs rising over 3000 feet from the sea level.Pago Pago is the place against steep mountains. There is an extremely attractive harbour there. The town retains its red light district, which is romantically described by Somerset Maughan in his famous book ‘Rain’.
Leone has many ancient archaeological sites including its rock quarries in the hills above the town. There are grinding holes along the coast where rocks were shaped into tools.
