Malaysia Holidays Vacations

Unity within diversity- that is the spirit of Malaysia. This country presents an interesting collage of multiple ethnicities, religions, and cultures. This colorful assortment makes Malaysia a great country to visit with its highly evolved traditional arts and culture.

If you happen to be in the country during the Chinese Festival, consider yourself in luck as you will get to view Malaysia’s famed lion dance which is held to be auspicious amongst Malaysians.

This dance is more difficult than it appears because it requires finely tuned synchronization between the two dancers representing the head and the rest of the body. The craft that goes with the construction of the lion is also a sight to behold.
If you happen to be at a wedding ceremony you cannot miss the beat of the kompang, the Malaysian answer to the tambourine which sounds quite similar as well. The kompang is also integral to official ceremonies. If, however, you wish to get away to more solitary, as well as idyllic, surroundings, you could visit the exotic islands the country is famous for their dive sights. For those who are fans of snorkeling and scuba diving, The islands of Pulau Redang, Terenganu, and Tioman could be considered ideal.

These islands are surrounded by beautiful azure waters which offer just the right temperature for divers. The underwater seascape throws up some truly lovely sights of coral wonders. You will also get to see some really exotic species of sea life such as cuttlefish, murray eels, and jack fish. For those who love to explore but on terra firma, the caves of Malaysia are invitation enough. Home to some of the best-known caves the world over, certain caves have been hailed as record-holders. They offer rich sights in terms of stalagmites and stalactites and some are even considered to be archaeological wonders.

But the caves you must not miss are those of the Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak. Based in the interiors of Borneo, it is now a World Heritage site. Or, you could be one of those casual tourists who simply likes to shop.

And the good news is that whether you are in the quest of designer goods or local handicraft, you’ll get everything you desire. The best-known shopping malls are in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor and they operate between 10 am to 10 pm.

For a ‘richer’ shopping experience you should try the open air bazaars or night markets known as pasar malam where you can haggle to your heart’s content for the right bargain. So you see- cool, cool Malaysia has something for everyone.
